I extend my deepest condolences to the wider O'Donnell family on Jimmy's death. I met him socially on many occasions when based in UB Athlone Area Office in the mid 70s and always enjoyed his company. He was considered by all his colleagues to be one the Bank's great characters. May he Rest in Peace.

Sincere sympathy to Jimmy’s sisters, brother and extended family on his sad passing. He was a giant of a man both on and off the GAA fields. He is fondly remembered locally for his many great displays with the local Sean Mac Diarmada Club and Leitrim. It was lovely to meet him on his return to Manorhamilton in 2001 for a Millennium award.

Condolences to Jimmy's family, I worked and played football with him in Manorhamilton. He was a big man with a big heart and great fun to be with. May he rest in peace.
It was very sad news to learn of Jimmy's death. I have very pleasant memories of the times we had together in our young days in Manorhamilton. Football played a big part in enjoying our lives then and I remember so well how clearly he displayed that he had what it takes. Also a very good guy in many other ways too. May God be good to you now Jimmy, you will be in our prayers.

Jimmy will be sorely missed at the Listowel Races and many other race tracks around Ireland and the UK. Jimmy’s legacy in Ulster Bank will never be forgotten as a kind and supportive manager and a quality footballer who backboned our Gaelic Football Team for many years. Jimmy played on the great Leitrim team of the 50's with McGarty & Flynn and lifted the spirits of all Leitrim people at that time. His performances at midfield for Leitrim with Mick Mullen were key to the teams success and the match reports in the daily papers at that time are there for everyone to see how good Jimmy really was. I have very fond memories of meetings with Jimmy when I joined Ulster Bank in Castlepollard & Jimmy was in Mullingar and later when he was Manager in Ballinrobe. He was always great company, a true gentleman and a most honourable and generous man with great patience and time for everyone he met.

Very sorry to learn of the passing of Jimmy. Always remember his time in Granard as the bank official. He lodged with my Mother for a number of years and played with the local St. Mary's Club, he won a Senior C/ship in 1966. Always a "character" and well respected by the local Community. He was a hero of mine growing up in Manorhamilton in the 1950s when he was playing on the local Sean McDermott's and Leitrim teams. One of his many achievements was gaining a runner-up medal with Leitrim in the 1956 all-Ireland minor final when he was just 16 years of age. May he rest in peace.

My deepest sympathy to Jimmy's family. Growing up in Killargue he was my boyhood hero, when starring for Leitrim minors and seniors in the 50/60's.
Later I had the pleasure of getting to know him when I was based in Galway. He sure was a gentleman. RIP Jimmy
Deepest sympathies to the family of the late Jimmy O Donnell on his sad passing. Jimmy was a member of the 1956 Leitrim Minor Team, Connacht Minor Champions and All-Ireland Finalists of that year. He went on to have many distinguished days in the Green and Gold with the Senior Team of that era whose lofty exploits are still fondly remembered and regaled. May he rest in peace.
