I want to express my sincere sympathy with Marie and Jimmy's family at this very sad time. My late husband Gerry and Jimmy climbed many mountains together and they celebrated the best of times. I've been able to look back at photos of them out on the mountains both here and abroad in the past days. When I read the lovely things said about Jimmy I was reminded of simular things being said about my good friend Vinny Scanlon. When I pointed this out to Vinnys daughter she agreed and had a good laugh. They both had an outer facade of a grump. However, behind their facade lay a dedicated and devoted husband and father. In Jimmy's case he married his childhood sweetheart, Marie. I had the great honour and privilege to be employed with Jimmy. I was nearly going to mention work. But it was in socialising with Jimmy that I experienced a wonderful human being. Absolutely sincere, intelligent and fun loving. My heart goes out to Marie and his wonderful children but I hope that all the positive and kind words are of comfort to you. It was an honour and a privilege Jimmy,,thank you.

Sincere condolences to Marie and family on your loss. Jimmy was a great friend and companion as we traipsed the mountains of Wicklow and beyond for many years together, and with the Musclepullers group of hikers, and had the occasional pint afterwards.
