Thinking of our lovely neighbour and sending our condolences to all the family
So sorry to hear this sad news, Jim was a lovely, gentle man and a good neighbour for many, many years. May he Rest In Peace.
Nuala and the Loughran family, ex 169.
A mighty tree has fallen in the O’Tooles GAC forest. Jimmy was a class apart in terms of his interest in and knowledge of all things concerning our Local, National and GAA history. His Artwork and Calligrophy skills were inspirational in how he told a story. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. Leaba i measc na Naomh go raibh ag Jimmy.

Sad to hear the news of the passing of Jimmy. A great historian on Dublin folklore and Irelands fight for freedom, his wealth of knowledge on the 1916 Easter Rising, War of Independence and Civil War are remarkable. His publications, books on those subjects, his family connections to Irelands struggle for freedom are remarkable. May he rest in eternal peace.

Very sorry to hear the sad news. May Jimmy rest in peace.
So long, Jimmy.Great club man and the author of many historical books.
A lifelong friend of my Mam's family in Donnycarney, I got to know Jimmy though my interest in history and in particular the 1916 rising. I learned so much from Jimmy, not only about this period of our history and my family's involvement, but about my wonderful city and it's culture, heritage and history. I will miss having a pint with Jimmy in Kitty Kiernan's or with him and Charlie Murtagh after some commemoration wher Jimmy would inevitably know more about than the orator. Tá Dub mór, staraí mór agus cara mór caillte againne. Ar dheis Dé go raibh d'Anam dílis Jimmy.
Sincere sympathy to the Wren family on the passing of Jimmy. I new Jimmy well from O'Tooles Gaa and reading his many books.

With deepest sympathy on the passing of Jimmy, a Dublin legend, a walking authority on Irish history particularly Easter week 1916. Jimmy loved his art and drawing, his two 1916 books in time will be seen as definitive history books on the GPO and Four Courts Garrison. He will be greatly missed, and I will miss calling over and chatting about all sorts of things . Farewell Jimmy Wren my pal..🇮🇪 May you rest in peace.
Sincere condolences to Noeline and family on the sad passing of Jim.

We remember with great fondness Jim and our Aunt Bernie visiting us in Castlebar in the early years. Jim and my late dad, Patsy, were both passionate GAA followers, always enjoying a lively and jovial banter when Mayo and Dublin faced off in Croke Park.

A true gentleman and a brilliant historian, Jim left an incredible legacy through his books, enriching us all with his vast knowledge. He will be deeply missed, but his wisdom and contributions will live on in the hearts and minds of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
I Remember Mr Wren coming into the Gilbert Library in Pearse Street Library [The Dublin and Irish Collection]
