Jim was an exceptional human being. He was brilliant in very many regards, but what made him particularly special was his humanity and his incredible ability to connect authentically with others.

Amidst all the complexity of life, he always had great advice that was rooted in honoring our shared human context. I greatly miss our regular chats and his enormously positive impact on my life. The world was a better place with Jim in it.

To Siubhán, Liam, Tim, Fionnuala and family, I am deeply sorry for your loss. Jim will be missed by many every day.

Dear aunty Siubhán, Liam, Tim and Fionnuala, I am so deeply saddened to learn of cousin James’s passing. What a shock for you all. Sending condolences and love at this difficult time from Helsinki.

I first knew James as a keen young graduate at CSC in 2005. From those early days, he showed the qualities that would define him: a sharp mind, genuine kindness, and real curiosity about the world. He didn't just ask questions—he genuinely wanted to understand and help others do the same. As the years passed by, our jobs changed, but we kept in touch and over the last 8 years met regularly to discuss life, low carb, tech and everything in between. What was consistent throughout the time was his integrity, kindness and understanding. He was a good man, my brother, and I miss him deeply. I'm grateful to have known him. Rest well, James.

Especially Brid and Gerry who were so well looked after by James when they visited. "The Broderick suite". Brid reminded me we were in Letterkenny visiting when James was born. Can't believe you're really gone, big man.

I’ll miss the talks we had and the way you made me think about things differently. You had a way of looking at the world that stuck with me - sensible, fair and principled to the core.

You were my go-to for so many topics and the first one I'd confide in for many things. I knew I'd always get straight, honest and wise insights in return.

From now on, I’ll just have to ask myself - “What would Jim think?” - and listen.

Dear Cousins Family -

Jim was a dear friend of mine and had such a positive impact on my life. We often spoke of family, and I know he truly loved his. I send my deepest condolences. I will miss Jim for the rest of my life, but will always treasure the time I had with him and all the things he taught me.

I came to know James through my husband, and what always struck me was the depth of his presence in people's lives, in his work, in everything he touched. He was one of those rare people who leaves a real mark on the world, and it was clear how deeply loved and admired he was by so many.

My heart goes out to the family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

James has become a close friend of mine over the past years. He greatly supported me through difficult times and guided me through my professional career. He had a big heart and was dedicated to making this world a better place. He did. He made me better and I will always remember him. James deserved so much more time and I miss him dearly.
