Jim was always so good to us kids growing up, and as we got older such a pleasure to spend time with over a pint. A great man for a story, a song, or a bad joke. We had fun on road trips to Donegal & Derry too.

I just heard the sad news about the passing of Jim. I was only recounting the other day some of my past sailing exploits and Jim was heavily present in the recounting. He was our greatest rival during my time in Mermaids but also one of my best friends in that class. He was a lovely lovely man, full of warmth, laughter, intelligence, integrity and honour. My life has been made far richer for having known Jim. I know how much you all loved him and how much you will miss him. But, I’m sure you all have a wealth of wonderful memories of him to bring you comfort in the future. My deepest condolences to you all. My warmest thoughts go out to you at this sad time. So sorry to hear about Jim’s passing. I remember as a kid and probably playing under 10’s or 11's serving him in my aunt Bernie Dowling’s shop and when I dropped the onions he was buying he said “Now Shea, that was a knock-on!” He also gave me a few great tips on business which I have never forgotten. Always the gent and with good advice. Condolences to Pam and all the family.
