My deepest and heartfelt sympathies to the McWeeney family on their extremely sad loss of James. I am away and unable to sympathise in person. James was one of my oldest and longest friends having sat together on our first day of National school. James was as proud of anyone’s achievements as if they were his own. His genuine kindness, care and compassion is echoed and marked by the huge outpouring of grief on his untimely passing. He had a wonderful devilish sense of humour and that wink would get around the hardest heart and melt it. His love of football and soccer are widely known but one of his proudest sporting achievements was winning a junior championship game for Annaduff against our friends and neighbours Bornacoola some years back when his 2 points from over 30 metres were the difference and it was recorded in the Leitrim Observer the following week. They always take the good ones and James you were the one of the finest human beings and friends that one could ever hope to meet and spend time with.
May your gentle and kind soul rest in eternal peace.
