Sincere condolences to Alex, Peter and Emer on Paul's passing and indeed also to his wider family including his great friend and cousin Aidan Kernan.
Paul was a part of our lives for many years and he offered a richly unique tapestry of stories and his encyclopedic knowledge of pretty much everything was amazing. Combined with his awesome communication skills, it meant that every evening out with him was special. I really enjoyed meeting Paul in Zurich over the years when I was on my travels and we always referenced the starting point which was Riversdale Tennis Club and the Autobahn and the mischief that we all got up to.
May he rest in peace ,

So sorry to her of Paul (Zulu’s) passing. He truly was one of a kind. He had his own unique humour which still makes me smile today. I think often of the funny things he did and said. I actually shared them down the years with my own kids who never knew him but loved his humour. You are sadly missed Zu. Sincere condolences to Emer, Peter, Alex, Claudia and his good friend and cousin Ao. Rest in Peace Zu, thank you for the laughs and fun. -Peter Duff
Sincere sympathy Emer, Peter and family on the sad passing of Paul RIP.
From the first time I set eyes on Zulu (I never called him Paul my life), as he marched across the green, like Harry Dean Stanton in the opening sequence of Paris Texas, on his way to Paul Kinnane's house, I knew he was somebody different.
We were outside my house listening to The Beach Boys on a battery operated tape recorder that Spud had brought along, when he came by. We bonded immediately and I never looked back,
He arrived fully formed like a cosmic explosion in the tiny 1970s world of ours. He brought mischief, creativity and most of all humour, wherever he went. His boundless energy and lust for life was contagious. His love of left field music, which he championed as if it were a matter of life and death, was inspiring. I even have a spotify playlist based on his influence. This isn't one of them;
Just yesterday mornin', they let me know you were gone
Suzanne, the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to
I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you one more time again.
They say that when a person dies a whole universe dies too. I thank you Paul for sharing yours with me.

Rest in peace Paul (Zulu). I remember fondly how warm, bright and witty you were and the joy you brought to all the Egan family in our teenage years
So sorry to hear about Paul, Emer. Thinking of you and your family.
I was so very sad to hear of Paul's passing. I remember him fondly from our younger days when we all shared a house in London. He always had a real zest for life and a knack for finding fun. He took real pleasure introducing everyone to various weird and wonderful places that only Paul could find and he was always ahead of the game seeking out the next fun thing to do or see. I have no doubt that his warmth and wit will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Sincere condolences to Emer, Peter, Alex and Claudia.
Zulu as I knew him was a wonderful witty intelligent and funny guy. His command of the German language back when we were teens in the Autobahn was always good to get a pint quickly.
We were in touch recently and hoped to meet up when he was back in Ireland again. Alas that will not now happen. RIP
Codladh Sámh Zulu
