May James rest in peace.
Jim was a kind, intelligent and humble man. When I came to Ireland with Alex, he welcomed us into his home and treated me as part of the family. I will remember the great food, conversation and wine. My condolences to all of the family. I wish you all well.
Sincerest condolences to all the Rooney family on the untimely death of James. He worked with me in BUilding Services at PH McCarthy & Partners and I got to see his incredible range of skills. Later, when I needed a safe pair of hands, I called him up and he joined the Grangegorman project and the GDA. He really rose to the challenge and used his astute project management skills to drive on his projects, whatever the obstacle, James had a tremendous ability to read people but the gentleman in him meant he treated everybody with respect, whatever the obstacle. Yet, he could call a spade a spade when he had to - he often did it with a quip and that wry smile of his. James was a consummate professional but also a great family man. He will be sorely missed. May he Rest In Peace.
So sorry to hear of the death of your father a gentleman, happy with your mam rest in peace

So sorry for your loss Alastair and all the Rooney Family. RIP James.
My deepest condolences to the Rooney family on your loss. I was very saddened to hear of his passing. I worked with, and shared an office with James at the GDA. My favourite memory was setting up the big screen tv in the boardroom at the Clock Tower to watch South Africa vs Canada in the Rugby World Cup 2015. He would whistle the national anthem often, and I would follow with the words in my head. Thinking of you today, and sending love from Cape Town.
I have been working alongside James for the past year, on the refurbishment of Lower House at Grangegorman. The project has been challenging on many fronts, and there were times when I wished for an easier, less driven, project manager. James had a relentless focus on delivery, and an incredible ability to assert his professional authority through a few carefully chosen words. But he surprised and delighted me too, on many occassions, with his sudden shifts into witty camaraderie.
I was hugely shocked by the news we received this week. And I am saddened to have learned only now that he was in any way unwell. My deepest condolences to you all at this time.

Can I pass on my sincere condolences on the sad occasion of James's passing. I'm a GDA work colleague, in fact I sat directly opposite him for the last couple of years in the GDA Clock Tower office. Simply put James was great to have around and be around on any number of fronts. He'll be sorely missed. RIP James
I feel privileged for the short time I knew your Dad. When taking the floor with both his stories and his insightful and professional contribution; in the one to one conversations where he was always sincere and spoke so proudly of his family. He was an inspiration and will continue to be. My deepest sympathy for your loss.
To Jame's Family. I was shocked to hear the sudden sad news of your father's death. I am a Antiquarian Horologist and have spent 40 years saving the historic clocks in Dublin and environs. I came across your father when the GDDA took over Grangegorman. I was so pleased to find a man who listened and understood the genius of James Waugh the Irish Maker of the oldest known 'Flat-bed' clock in the world, situated in the Tower Building of Grangegorman. James was always a quiet courteous man and because of his engineering knowledge took great interest in and appreciated the detail and structure of this magnificent early Cast Iron clock, which in 1984 was nearly thrown out as it had been left to decay. James understood the importance of keeping and maintaining these historic artefacts. I will miss him greatly. 'James -Thank You and R.I.P. '
So sorry to hear the sad news of your lovely dad James. To Deanna Alistair and Douglas.May God give you strength to cope .He's with Doreen now and at peace. We are thinking of you all today.
I had the pleasure of working closely with James at the GDA over the last 7 years. We were lucky to have had the benefit of his insight ,intelligence and work ethic, no doubt driven by his rural Monaghan upbringing.

Condolences to his family of whom he often proudly spoke.

Sincere condolences to Deanna and family on the death of your dear dad. A sad loss for you all. From your colleagues in Pawsawhile and Farrellys Vets.
To the family of James, I want to extend my sincere condolences to you all.
I had the pleasure of working with James for over 3 years at the Grangegorman Development Agency (GDA). I sat across from him and every morning we would share a cup of tea at the start of the working day. We would discuss all sorts. James could be quite forthright and controversial in his views. However, his arguments always had a logic and a sound basis and rationale. He was always a man of great kindness and humanity.
James became a great mentor to me during my time at the GDA and offered me great kindness and support to me during my wife Emer’s pregnancy with our son Killian. I always say that Killian visited us for a short time. James listened to me and offered great care to me during that time. During that time he shared with me how he cared for his beloved wife and your beloved mother, Doreen.
James was a marvellous Engineer and colleague. He challenged people, he followed through and he delivered and made an outstanding contribution to the Grangegorman Project.
I know he was a great family man and took great pleasure at organising the Rooney Family gatherings. I am genuinely shocked at the passing of James. To the family of James, you know he was a tremendous man. You should know he I would have looked forward to sharing one of those South African “Braai” with James after the Covid had passed!
Farewell James, old friend.

To all of James's family
It's been a pleasure to have gotten to know James over the past six years working with the GDA. I will miss our early morning conversations around James's passion of rugby and horses. Brexit kept us going for a while. I later discovered that our paths had crossed previously with James having frequented my local pub in Galway. Corbett's of Clonboo. Small world.
My sincerest condolences to all the family. James will be missed. Shay
