My deepest sympathy to Jason, Nadine and the extended Shannon and McHugh families. It was with great sadness that I heard of Jim’s passing. As I was outside the country at the time, I was unable to attend any of the services. Jim was a great colleague and friend at IT Sligo and he will be sadly missed by all. He made a significant contribution to the development of Mechatronics and his work was a crucial building block in the achievement of university status for the institution.

I was a student of Jims' in the 1980's doing Power Electronics in Sligo RTC...and I recall vividly that he was a very nice person, very helpful, pleasant and he left a lasting impression on me.

I was so sorry to hear from Bill this morning of my cousin Jim's death and would like to send my sympathy to Jason, Nadine, Bill, Doreen and the rest of the family. I know my late father (Bill Shannon) was very fond of Jim and we as a family were very touched when Jim travelled to Scotland for his funeral. Rest in peace.
