James W.E. (Jimmy) Fitzpatrick

So saddened to hear of Jimmy’s sudden passing. I have such fond memories of working with him in AIB Treasury. A lovely man with a great sense of fun.

May you rest in peace Jimmy.

There is no greater symbol of a man’s worth than to find, after his passing, that he is eulogised, not once, but three times, powerfully,
by each of his wonderful loving sons.

Well done Jimmy, there aren’t many of us who will leave a legacy like that.

The last time I spoke to him was at our Daniels and Roddys graduation in Trinity. He lit up the room with his wonderful smile and the joy he brought to every situation. Dear Pauline, Hugo, Jack, Roddy, and my cousins Richard and Jimina.

We were sad to hear of Jimmy’s sudden passing. I have happy memories, staying with Jimmy, Pauline and the boys on a couple of occasions in the late 1990s. (He said it was a gas to have two Roddys in the house.) But also memories back to our days as boys on family holidays.
His company - and Pauline’s - invariably lifted my mood to laughter. I felt he had a generous heart and a kindly interest in, and liking for, individuals. He made me feel good about myself.

Gillian and I were so sorry to hear of Jimmy's passing. It was too early for such a character. So many happy memories of him from Gonzaga through working behind the bar together in Carrickmines LTC and through to various meetings on the water and in countless sailing club bars afterwards. We were very sad to hear that Jimmy had died. He and Clare were in infants' school together. He and I behaved like infants more lately. He was part of the original crew of the Waterfront Players and made a very ugly pantomime dame. Right up to 2019 he was part of the gang singing for the Simon Community on Christmas Eve. Millie and I and lots of his sailing friends have known Jimmy since short pants mucking about in the various junior sections across the waterfront. They were fun times and character forming.
