My deepest sympathy to Sean and all Jane’s family on her sad passing. May she rest in peace. From her cousin Rita.
Sending my condolences to Davitt and family and I was very sad to hear the news. Jane was a colourful and lovely person and have many fond memories of her.
Sincere condolences to Jane's family and friends on behalf of us all at IMMA. Jane made immense contributions with diligence, insight and grace to the Board during her tenure; we benefit from her legacy today. Comhbhrón ó chroí.
Cian, Rowan & Davitt, very sorry to hear about Jane, I would have been at the funeral only my own Mum passed on the same day. I have very fond memories of Jane, my first and best swimming teacher, and the time we spent in your rustic kitchen in the old house. I think of her every time I drive over the granite cobbles in the middle of Dun Laoghaire, or visit the Pavilion Theatre, when I think of her she's always driving the white mini, beeping and waving every 10 yards because she knew everyone on the street. Condolences to Jane’s family. Bean iontach, spleodrach, suimiúil a bhí innti. RIP
All my condolences to Davitt, Rowan and Cian on your mother's death. Jane was a good friend to my late husband Joe Joyce and to me, especially in the late 1970s and 1980s, when Joe worked on Southside newspaper. She was as so many people here have said, colourful, fun and a great advocate for the people of Dun Laoghaire

I had such great admiration for Jane. An inspiration for many in the Labour Party. Although I haven’t seen her in so long, I miss what she stood for in our movement. She was certainly a rose in our bread and roses ideal.
I am so sorry to here today that Jane has passed on.
She was a wonderful and colourful character and a great advocate for people and place. She truly enjoyed her time on Dun Laoghaire Borough Council, Dublin County Council and later Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. A lover of the arts, a creative mind and spirit.
Jane was so proud of the Dun Laoghaire Pavilion Theatre and its creative and corporate team.
I greatly valued her friendship and sparkle !
My sympathies to her family and her Labour Party colleagues and former Councillors that served with her in local government.

Sincere condolences to the Dillion Byrne family on Jane's sad passing. Jane was the Chairperson of Senior College Dún Laoghaire(SCD)/Blackrock Further Education Institute (BFEI) when the college moved from Dún Laoghaire to a refurbished building in the heart of Blackrock that encompasses three heritage buildings - the Town Hall, the Carnegie Library and the Blackrock Municipal Technical School. This state of the art educational facility show cases the highest standard of design and craftsmanship. These new facilities were also designed to accommodate a refurbished public library which now serve the community of Blackrock and the surrounding area and will continue to serve the community for many years to come, benefiting generations of students and library users long after the dust has settled on this new campus. Jane was also part of the sub committee who selected the art work 'Canopy' by Artist Niamh O'Malley, which was funded by the Department of Education and Skills under the 'Per Cent for Art' Scheme.
Jane's family can be proud of her hard work and contribution to bring this educational project to fruition on behalf of Dún Laoghaire VEC (DLVEC) and Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB (DDLETB).

My deepest condolences to Jane's family. She was always so personable and kind. I remember when I last met her and we chatted about life at Sandycove beach. RIP
So sorry to hear this news. Jane was a larger than life character. I had the pleasure of being on her campaign team way back in 1999 when I was a young party member living in Dún Laoghaire and she had a wonderful way of connecting with people and making people feel listened to. She was an incredibly fun and gentle spirit. I think everyone who has encountered her will be left with smiles and happy memories.
Condolences to her family and many many friends.

Cian, Rowan, Davitt,
Sincere condolences from the Hyland family. I remember Jane as a hugely colourful and charismatic influence back in Dún Laoghaire in the ‘80s, a politician, an artist, a swimming coach and a mum.
Ní fheicfimid a leithéid arís.

Ah, I am deeply saddened to hear of Jane’s passing. I remember her humour and her kindness to a rookie reporter covering meetings of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. Jane never let anyone forget the reason members were elected was to make things better for their fellow citizens. She was cultured with an impish grin, but most of all considerate. I last interviewed her after she had been swimming and I really thought she would live for decades yet. My sincere condolences to her extended family.
Comhbhrón ó chroí le clann Jane - braithfidh muintir Dhún Laoghaire uathu leithéid Jane Dillon Byrne.

Cian a chara, I am sad to hear of the passing of your wonderful mother, JDB, such a beautiful person, the brightest smile, the most generous energy, infectious humour and wit and a laugh that put everyone at ease. As kids we always loved to be around the colourful, free spirited, enthusiastic Jane who’s integrity and hard work has seen the greater community reap the benefit of in so many ways. She has left a light and a legacy that will shine on forever. Ag smaoineamh oraibh go léir ag an am seo. Go mbeidh a leithéid arís ann agus ar dheis Dé go raibh a hAnam.
Rowan, Jane's energy and twinkle are fondly remembered by me. She takes with her the love and admiration of so many as is evident from these messages. She was many things to many people but most importantly she was your dear mother, now and forever. My sympathy to you and your family. Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann.
I enjoyed many hours in Jane's company. Sitting at the wall in Sandycove and in various cafes. She was always so interested in everything going on in the world and locally, so chats were stimulating. I have missed you for the past few years. Rest in peace.
A great lady.
Rest peacefully Jane.
Condolences to all her family.

Please accept my sympathies on the loss of the remarkable Jane. Jane was a key participant in The Pale Project; a year long programme of writing workshops I ran with DLR Co Co - she was kind, judicious, spirited, and so much fun. She chose the Forty Foot as her territory to write about and spoke movingly of being taught to swim by her father. When I swim, I hear her voice quoting her father's instruction: 'straight leg, Jane, kick through the hip'; advice carried through into a lifetime of dedicated public service. May her soul swim gladly into the harbour of our Lord.
Our heartfelt condolences to Cian and Marie and family on the loss of Jane.
Sympathies to all the Byrne family. Thinking of you at this difficult time. Rest in peace Jane.

Very fond memories of Jane teaching me to swim in Monkstown Blue Pool, I was older than most in the class at 10 but she gave me confidence every week until I got there

The term 'legend' is overused in modern conversation. But it is the only realistic way of describing Jane Dillon Byrne. A constant and reliable voice in the Labour Party for generations, her distinctive pink visor always illustrated her attitude to life. For her family of course her political status is secondary to her role as partner, mother and grandmother. Your loss will be felt deeply and for some time. We can only hope that the love her party colleagues had for her will soften the pain to some extent. May she rest in power.
Sincere condolences to Jane's family. I have great memories of delightful swims & dinners over many, many years in Inis Oirr! Jane was great company and fun and encouraged so many people to swim - including my own sons whom she encouraged to jump off the pier in Inis Oirr!!

Sincere sympathy to Sean, and to all Jane's family on her sad passing. From her cousin Liam Dillon, Limerick and formerly Woodlawn, Ballinasloe, Galway.
Jane worked tirelessly for social justice and equal rights, for everybody in Dún Laoghaire and beyond. A passionate feminist but also a good friend, interested in fashion and fun. 'Cailíní Carces' will always remember the craic and the long debates. She brought great colour into our lives. The river at 'aubuduru' ('béal an bhóithrín) replaced the 40-Foot for a glorious week every year.
We will raise many a glass of rosé to our dear departed friend.
Slán abhaile, Jane!
Ag smaoineamh ar Davitt, Rowan agus Cian.
