Sincere sympathies to Jane’s extended family on her passing. Jane was a memorable character with a zest for life, a joy to all who knew her. May that zest continue!
So sorry to hear about Jane - sincere condolences to her family and friends. The two things I remember most about Jane from our years in Leinster House were her great sense of fun, and how lovely she was to everyone. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam uasal.
Sincere sympathy to Jane ‘s extended family on her passing . Jane epitomised the best of colleagues working in Leinster House . She was very dedicated to her work and had an open, engaging and caring personality which meant she was very popular with all staff and most politicians who crossed her path . Her strength of character stood to her in her later years as she dealt with illness with such fortitude right to the very end . We can only hope that the journey she has embarked on now will be as fruitful as her life was here on earth. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dilis.
It was a great pleasure, in the early days of my career in the Oireachtas, to meet and get to know Jane Mathews, and I remember well that first morning when she introduced herself to me as Sinéad Ní Mhaitiú. Jane was always pleasant, no matter what challenges the day presented, and her practical approach to getting the job done while maintaining high standards was an example to all. She was always cheerful, despite the health issues she had to deal with as time passed, and a conversation with Jane was always an enjoyable, and frequently informative, one. Indeed, I often got to know more than most about Jane’s health issues as, being old school, Jane preferred to fill out her sick certs ‘as Gaeilge’ and often popped in to me to ask for the official Irish version of whatever the recent ailment was! I often met Jane outside the office, as she was a great supporter of charities and fundraisers all over the city, and she was always the same wonderful woman, with an unquenchable love of life. Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann. Suaimhneas síoraí sna Flaithis go raibh aici.
Paula Michelle Paddy nd Peter nd families thinking of you all at this sad time may she finally be at peace with Joe nd Carmel

Condolences to Jane’s family at this sad time. May she rest in peace. Jane and I worked together at various times over 20 years in Leinster House. Despite ongoing ill health, she was always helpful, courteous and had an encyclopaedic knowledge of procedures. Proud of her Dublin roots, Jane had a wicked sense of humour. She was also one of very few people who did not have a bad word to say about others. Her Christianity was an example to all. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
Sad news indeed! She was always so friendly to meet and I have great memories of Jane…a true lady! RIP🙏🏻🙏🏻
I knew Jane not only as a neighbour but also as a work colleague. When I worked on new legislation in the Dept of Justice, Jane in Leinster House guided me through the procedural intricacies of the legislative process, and made the complex seem simpler. She was always helpful, friendly and unruffled. She is a sad loss to our Ballinteer community. Suaimhneas síorraí dá hanam dílis ó Sheila agus Brian
