Jane Matthews

I am very sorry to hear of Jane Mathew's passing. Jane was one of my neighbours on Quarry Road in Dublin 7. We had many passing conversations over the years and she was a very good and kind neighbour. In May 2020 during the first Covid19 lockdown I was seriously ill and it took over a week to find a doctor to treat me. I was barely able to look after myself. Each day for over a week Jane would leave a beautifully cooked meal outside my door and helped me to get better. Jane was a remarkably kind neighbour and will be missed.

She was a lady in every sense and a colleague I held with the highest regard.

Her kindness, warmth and all round sense of decency were among her many virtues - she will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace

“There’s no tragedy in life like the death of a child. Things never get back to the way they were.” My heartfelt sympathy to Marie and Neil and Jane's siblings. The premature loss of a daughter is something that can never be understood or accepted. I cannot imagine your grief. There is a picture of Jane in my head, from our brief meetings during our childhood. It is one of a golden, sunny and vibrant girl. May your memories of her, and how she touched so many people's lives, bring some solace in the days ahead.

My sincerest sympathies to the entire Matthews family upon hearing such sad news of Janes death. I recall that she was such an avid reader that her torch was always on after “lights out” at The Abbey. We had some great laughs there. Fond memories.
