My sincerest condolences to Angela and Jean’s family and friends. I remember Jean well from her activist days in London in the Irish women’s feminist community to which she made a huge contribution. She had a beautiful warm smile and a very kind way about her. So sorry to hear she has gone.

Condolences to Angela and all of Jean’s family and friends from all of us at London’s West Hampstead Women’s Centre, which this year celebrates 40 years in existence.

Jean made a huge contribution to the development of the centre which still provides help and support to woman in north west London to this day including a social and support group for Irish women.

Jean also supported the London Irish Women’ Centre, which we lost in 2011, but which, in its time, made an immense difference to many Irish women in London, often giving them the confidence to face the many challenges they encountered.
A film about the centre “Breaking Ground” (Dir Michelle Deignan) features a video clip of the young Jean making a very witty address to the second of a series of five London conferences of/about Irish women.

Many will feel the benefit of Jean’s work for years to come.
