Being neighbours for many years, Jennie was always more a granny to the children on the crescent. Memories abound of my kids being permitted and loving to play with Bruno … the Tierney family pet dog. We could not have had a nicer neighbour. RIP Jennie.

So sorry to hear of Jennie's passing. She was lovely. She gave me a poem to say for the Senior citizens and I will always remember her for that. Treasa, Swords Senior Citizens..
Saddened to hear of Jennie's death, my sincere sympathy to her daughters, son and extended families. I first met Jennie in the Airport Church Choir run by Babs McKeown, long ago in the sixties. Jennie was a beautiful singer and a great asset to any musical event. I met her regularly at Mass in Brackenstown over the years and she always made time for a chat. Before the pandemic, she attended Mass on Thursdays in Tara Winthrop Clinic, at that time I played the keyboard for the Mass, and Jennie was a star, knew all the old hymns and uplifted us all with her beautiful voice. She was a gracious and refined lady and it was a privilege to have known her. May she now have entered the door of Heaven to meet her Lord Jesus, where she will enjoy a glorious place of bliss, joy and reward for her long and fulfilled journey on this earth.
Deepest sympathies to Sheelagh, Caroline, Patrick, and the extended Tierney family.
I have many wonderful memories of my dear Auntie Jennie. Her voice - at family parties, at concerts, in church, on the radio - is part of the sound-track of my childhood. Whenever my dad would hear Deanne Durbin (“the Golden Voice”) singing in a movie on the TV, he’d say to us “Not a patch on Jennie Tierney”; he was right!
Auntie Jennie was a wonderfully kind and warm-hearted person - as was her husband, my uncle Paddy. While visiting their home in Portrane on the day of my First Holy Communion in the mid-1960s, I fell on the ground running down to their house and ripped the elbow out of the jacket of my new suit. Auntie Jennie saved the day with the magical “invisible stitching” she did on her Singer sewing machine while Uncle Paddy told us all to “relax” and put on the kettle and made a pot of tea. It’s my stand-out memory of the day.
My Auntie Jennie will be greatly missed by all the Fitzpatricks - most particularly by my mam (her sister Maeve) and my dad (her brother-in-law Tony) whom she phoned every evening at 5pm to catch up on the day’s events.
A few evenings ago when my sister Caitriona brought my mam and dad to visit Auntie Jennie, my mam said Jennie looked “so beautiful” and my dad said she was “just like the Jennie he had known for most of his life”.

In her own words written in 38: “I live in the village of Cloonfad. Long ago the village was far more thickly populated than it is now….here are the names that my grandmother told me... “
Bhí grá aicí don seanchas, don dùlra, agus don chlann ón tùs, grá nár caill sí a’riamh.
Ní haon rud é bás
Níl fágtha agam ach dul sa chéad seomra eile.
Táim mar a bhíos, agus tá tusa mar a bhi tù igconaí. Cibé rud a bhí eadrainnn dá chéile,
Sin atá agus mbeidh eadrainn go deó.
