My deepest sympathies to Bronagh, Jean, Ellen and extended family members. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jerrys sudden passing. He was my first training Sgt in April 1998 when I landed in Fitz St as a student. He was a tough task master but an absolute gentleman who gave me a great grounding in policing which has stood to me over the past 26 years. I met him a few times over the years and enjoyed having the chat with him. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

We were just so sad to hear the news ; we send our deepest sympathies to you all, Bronagh, Jean, Ellen, his Dad and all the Bergins on the loss of a giant of a man in every sense of the word ; wonderful memories of great nights in Harrington St in the 80’s with himself and Phil; always full of chat the pair of them and endless stories; our paths crossed in Castletownbere in the 90’s and then again we met Jerry in Killarney at an AGSI conference in 2017 ; it was like 25 years had never happened and he was the same lovely man telling us about his beautiful girls ; we hope the memories you have will sustain you all in the days ahead ; he was one of a kind and we were so lucky to have known him; Jerry, rest in heavenly peace until you all meet again.
