Jeremiah (Jerry) Broughan

I have lost an extraordinary friend, one who I could never replace. We met in the late 80’s working for LU and have been good friends ever since. Drinking, having a bet and putting the world to rights was our forte. The last drink we had was in March 24 over in Shoreditch, The Queens Head watching racing at Cheltenham. As usual you were a few quid up and I was a few quid down. Good times we had together.
Rest in peace Mr.B. You will be sorely missed. I will never forget you. ❤️

I will always remember working with you at Stepney Green station and your love of Everton FC. A very clever man with a great sense of humour.

I'm so sorry to learn of the passing of Jerry I remember him from the North Star Hotel where I worked as a Barmaid he was the lovelies Lounge Boy anyone could meet. He took me and my husband to visit his lovely family in Raheny who were so welcoming. May he rest in eternal peace.

Thinking of you dear aunt Lily and my cousins Attracta, Celine, Dorothy, Michael and your families and extended Broughan family - our heartfelt sympathy on the unexpected and untimely passing of your beloved Jerry, what a huge shock and immeasurable loss to you all. Jerry had a charismatic personality that endeared him to so many, he was was charming, friendly and with his lovely smile, gentle nature and disposition, it made him hugely popular. He was the epitome of an absolute gentleman always. Jerry was also very intelligent and articulate and this was evident from his youth when he was on holiday in Clondelara, after having the breakfast, he asked my mother, what was for dinner and when she announced the 'gourmet delights 'on the menu, Jerry said 'oh my mouth is watering already 'aunt Josie and Daddy said 'you must use your words properly ' Fond memories of happy times!
I know you are all truly heartbroken especially aunt Lily, may you get the inner strength to navigate through this enormous loss and may the wonderful memories of the good times together bring you some comfort now. Everyone that knew Jerry will be left devoid by his passing but you will also be incredibly enriched by his legacy. You're in my thoughts and prayers at this devastating, sad and difficult time. May Jerry's gentle soul rest in Heavenly peace and may uncle Ted be at the Pearly gates with open arms to welcome him Home. Farewell Jerry.

Jerry was a cousin that stood out among the rest in class and style , when I would go up to Dublin in the early years Jerry would go out of his way to make sure you had a good time , we would go to numerous places around the city and no matter where we went every seem to know Jerry broughan and always was the center of attention we would laugh about anyone and everyone I had such a great time hanging out with Jerry .
Aunt Lily I know you’re going through a tough time right now as of all the family I have to say he is up there with uncle Ted looking down on you all.

Sincere condolences to Lily and all the Broughan family, and all those close to Jerry, on his sudden passing. We got to know him well on his frequent visits nextdoor, he was a lovely friendly guy, always had a bit of banter about the football with my son, and when the hydrangeas were due to be cut we knew Jerry would be arriving soon 🙂. To all his family and particularly his Mum, and also to Abdul it is so difficult to deal with such a sudden death. I knew Jerry when both of us had a full head of hair, and that was not last year or the year before.

We used play football together and discuss how well or bad Everton or United played or whether Joe Dolan was passed his prime, We lost touch for many years but when we met up again it was like we had only seen each other a few hours previously.

He was a wonderful person, who still had so much to give and live for. I am proud to call him my friend and I like all of you will miss him
