I have many happy memories of sitting beside him at Lords watching cricket and having many lunches with his friend and business colleague Martin Rafferty. Jerry was great company and his laugh and smile were infectious. He will be missed by many.

I got to know Jerry when he was GM Warner Lambert in the early 70's and latterly in the IMI. A true gentleman and a giant of Irish industry. Condolences to his family and friends.

I'm very sorry to hear that Gerry has passed away. I got to know Gerry during his time as Chairman of IAA board. He was always great with people and over time we discussed his relatives in West Limerick and established that we were connected too. I hadn't been in touch after he moved on from IAA and I met Julie (I think, Jim O'C's wife) in Dingle when I asked for him.

RIP Jerry. A true gentleman and a great chairman of the Smurfit School. In that role he was always very approachable and willing to engage. Outside UCD I remember well having many discussions with him about the joys of getting a seat in That’s Amore restaurant in Monkstown!
