I was very sad to hear of Jerry’s passing, my heartfelt condolences to Pat, all the Mc Carthy family, and to the staff of the BOC — past and present — who had the privilege of knowing and working with Jerry.

Jerry was kind, steady, and had a quiet strength. His love for farming was something he carried with pride, and you’d rarely see him without his cap — it was just part of who he was.

Thinking of you all, especially you, Pat, during this difficult time. Jerry will be remembered fondly.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jerry on a couple of occassions with Kelly , one of his fantastic carers. He was due to visit the Fire Station in Cork on one occassion but unfortunately Jerry was too sick to visit. As an alternative I gave Jerry his own helmet with his name on it, which I believe he treasured. A gentle soul who will be dearly missed, especially by his carers , Kelly and her team. May he Rest in Peace.

Jerry was the most charming man, always making others smile and up to mischief. He was a fighter to the end. I loved my time working with him over the years in Kidron and have so many special memories with him.

Sleep well Jerry, no doubt there will be a bright coloured hard hat waiting for you. Reunited with mom, dad and Shep the dog now. Rest in peace x

So many lovely memories of Jerry whose quiet presence brought a lot of joy. He was always looking out for others, particularly Pat. I was so delighted when they got to live together in Bandon. Jerry was fortunate to have had staff many years ago who fought for his transplant which gave him new life for almost 30 years! He will be sadly missed by many.
