I was very sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. He and I were part of the seven original founders of the Dublin Cycling Campaign and spent much time getting cycling taken seriously by the City Council. He worked tirelessly in the DCC and getting St Vincent's to facilitate cyclists. Condolences from a fellow Corkonian.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jerry's sudden death. Our paths crossed through Servas, Dublin Cycling Campaign and Vincent's. We represented those who cycle on a transport committee in Vincent's. Jerry put huge effort and enthusiasm into organising a week of bike promotion events and setting up the Bicycle Users Group. My sympathies to his family and lab colleagues.

Deepest sympathy to Jerry's family on his sudden passing. I worked for a number of years with Jerry at SVUH. He was very passionate about our rights as Medical Scientists and was quick in encouraging any new graduates on the benefits of joining the MLSA. It was a pleasure to chat with Jerry. He would often chat about his travels, cycling or swimming. My thoughts also go to his colleagues at SVUH at this sad time. May he rest in peace.

I had the absolute pleasure of working 6 years with Jerry in the clinical chemistry laboratory of St. Vincent's Hospital. Jerry was a man who always had your back, and was highly encouraging to many young members of staff to actively participate in the MLSA union. May 2022's powerful industrial action is a time I will always remember for Jerry and his efforts; it is a shame he cannot bear the fruits of his Trojan labour, but he sowed the seeds for many, and for many to come. A legend. May he rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to the McSweeney family on the death of Jerry. Jerry was passionate in his work on behalf of Medical Scientists. He was committed to the profession and to workers rights. He will be sadly missed. Ní bheidh a leithéad ann arís.

I'm shocked and really saddened to hear of Jerry's untimely death. We spent a lot of time together in the early days of Dublin Cycling Campaign in the mid/late 1990s into the 2000s. Jerry was very much committed to the cause of making the city's streets safe for those on two wheels, and was always happy to continue with the discussions and debates after the more formal parts of our meetings - and our conversations continued as we cycled back homeward together to Churchtown with Jerry heading on to Ballinteer / Rathfarnham. My thoughts are with Jerry's family and close friends at this time.

Jerry became a good friend to me through our mutual love of sea swimming.

One of my happiest memories was meeting Jerry, with our good friend Derek, for a coffee before walking up by the Liffey in the sunshine as we made our way to the starting point of the 2022 Liffey Swim.

He was a quiely intelligent man with a wide knowledge and great sense of social justice. I will miss the deep conversions and the story telling.

I think I will always be looking for Jerry's friendly face at the races.
