I was lucky enough to meet and play with Jimmy at FC Ireland in the early 90’s. Jimmy and Geraldine were always there for me and others. On the pitch, the weight of his pass and his vision set him apart. But off the pitch his mentorship, support and kindness made a huge difference to me and I’m sure others. My thoughts are with Geraldine and your family. RIP Jimmy.
To all of Jim’s family, my condolences on your loss. I remember Jim as a great colleague, always helpful, kind and generous. Wishing you strength during this tender time.
So sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. We met him in our early days in Brussels and hold fond memories of watching his FC Irlande performances and other social events. Sincere condolences to Geraldine and family at this difficult time.

Sincere sympathy to Geraldine and family on Jim’s passing. I remember him well from our times together with FC Irlande. A skilled footballer and a true gentleman. May he rest in peace.
I lived in Brookwood Road while Jim lived in Brookwood Avenue but we didn't know each other until we met in Brussels. My Dad told me that there was a guy from around the corner called Jim Conway who was a great footballer and was working in Brussels and that I should look him up. As it turned out I didn't have far to look - we worked in the same Commission department and we both played for FC Irlande. After we went our separate ways workwise, Jim and I still used to meet for lunch every now and then to catch up on all things sport and music and I always looked forward to seeing him. A lot of people here say Jim was both a gentleman and a gentle man. That's absolutely right. He was a classy footballer and a classy person with a lovely sense of humour After moving back to Ireland I would have loved to meet up once again with Jim for lunch in The Yacht but sadly it was not to be.

Geraldine, Eamonn, Evelyn, Orla, I'll light a candle and raise a glass to Jim tonight. He may be gone but he'll always be in your hearts.
On behalf of AIACE, the association of former EU officials, I would like to offer our deepest sympathy to Geraldine and all of Jimmy’s family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
