My sincere condolences to Jim’s family on his sad and untimely passing.
I first came across Jim in Suttons when we were both in the fuel business. Jim always seemed to arrive and depart in a hurry and a cloud of dust. He had so much energy and was always busy. In later years I wasn’t surprised to see the success he made of his Garden Centre and Christmas shop. Even though I am a fairly regular customer at the Garden Centre during the spring and summer I hadn’t come across Jim in years until this summer when I stopped to have a pleasant chat with him and a little reminiscence. A lovely man who will be sorely missed.

Was so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. He was such a lovely kind man and so many of our Christmas memories involve Hanleys. I remember being in the shop buying a Christmas tree when my daughter who was about 7 years old fell in love with this huge Santa and carried it around the shop, we told her at the counter that we were only getting the tree today and her face fell. Jim followed us out into the car park and handed her the Santa as a gift! Will never forget his kindness and he made Christmas for one delighted little girl. It’s been years and years since I met Jim but he was always just so lovely.Jim was very proud of his boys , Keith and Jason. My deepest sympathies to you both and Patsy at this very sad time.
