So sad to hear of the passing of Jimmy, My Dad Johnny and Jimmy were best buddies on the back road every morning with their little terriers Jack and Tiny, they both had a great interest in both gardening and birds Canary's and Goldfinch, and their dog's, when Dad could not go in the mornings Jack would wait at the back gate for Jimmy and of they would go, Jimmy was a Gentle-Man loyal and kind, had time for everyone, He is sadly missed, Jimmy and his Late Wife Mary were great neighbou'rs Mary loved her garden lillies and roses, a great couple. Remembered as a lovely kind man who cared for birds - you had a part in my childhood Jimmy. I worked with Mary in the Hoey hotel when I was a teenager and I remember her fondly too. Happy to know you are back together again. Rest in peace x

So sad to hear of Jimmy’s passing, he was one of life’s great helpers. I remember him working in Shine’s Shop on the Magazine Road, where he would be seen regularly in the red pick up truck, delivering the needs to the people. He was always friendly and wanting to help. My deepest condolences to Jim’s extended family. He was a pure gentleman. I remember as a child, calling into him and Mary with my late mother, Jim would bring me out to his shed to see all his beautiful little birds. He’s reunited with Mary now, may his gentle soul rest in peace.
I had such mixed feelings Jimmy, on hearing that you had left us..happy that you were reunited with Mary, and sad because I'd never see you again ..

I visited Athlone twice and each time Jim was very welcoming, friendly and some great one liners to make me laugh, just like Mary.
