Dear Pat,
I am very sad to hear about Jim. Such a lovely man, he was one of Barry’s oldest and best friends, they will be reunited now.

With love, Fiorella
Deepest sympathy to Pat, Patricia, Joanne and the extended Lacy family on the death of Jim. Ar dheis Dé ar a anam.
I was very sorry to hear of Jim’s death. He was a great teacher, colleague and character – never one to jump on a bandwagon, indeed Jim avoided them and always took an independent and considered view on things. He was good company, and always in good form, any time he returned to UCD Engineering for a coffee and chat in retirement. My condolences to the Lacy family. May Jim rest in peace.
Sincere sympathy to Pat and family. I am very sorry to hear to hear of the death of a good colleague and friend . May Jim rest in peace.
My deepest sympathy to the Lacy family on the passing of Jim
My deepest sympathy to Jim's wife and daughters on the loss of a husband and father. I knew him initially as a teacher, a very gifted teacher, and his electronics class for mechanical students in the early 1960s was for me probably the most lastingly useful module of our course. And happily I had the opportunity to say so to him during his lifetime, when he consulted me in connection with one of his inventions. He gave much to many, and he will be greatly missed by a wide circle. I hope the memories and tributes of those who learned from him and worked with him will be a consolation to all the Lacy family in this time of loss.
To Pat, Patricia and Joanne and all the family, my heartfelt condolences on Jim's passing. May he rest in Peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time.
Our sincere condolences to you,Pat and Family on the sad loss of Jim.

Jim was a great teacher and a great educator to countless UCD electronic engineering graduates. He was an amazing innovator in electronic engineering, making immense contributions to key components now being found across a wide range of electric vehicles (page 3 in this newsletter https://www.ucd.ie/eleceng/about/alumni/eece%20newsletter%202013.pdf gives a fine summary of his achievements).
