I was so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. He is the reason that I got involved with Parkvilla FC. He was a great help in my early days when I was trying to find my feet. Even after he moved on to Claremont, he was always up for a chat and a catch up whenever I saw him about. Sincere condolences to all of his family. May he rest in peace.

So saddened to hear of the passing of Jim. When he was in the bank in Shercock he played for Shercock g.f.c. In 1979 he and i and my parents went together to Drogheda to see the pope on his visit to Ireland.A real gentleman was Jim. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Jim, a lovely, kind, gentleman, with a great sense of humour. I have find memories of Jim when he worked with my Dad at 30, Eyre Square, Galway. Jim"s Dad, Bill and my Dad, worked together in the Northern Bank. My sincere sympathies to you Luz, Dean and the Markland family on your deep loss.

For the last 16 Years Jim has lived next door to us. We could not have asked for a nicer neighbour. He always greeted you with the warmest good morning as he went about his day. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Jim as we are our kids regularly called to ask for a DIY tool. Be it a pump a hacksaw or a ladder to solve a problem. Jim always had the solution. He always asked about the horses and would wish us well as we headed to the races. He loved all sport. Our boys were always running to Jim to look for a friend to pump up a football and now we feel we have lost a friend also. Jim was a true gentleman. We will really miss Jim.

I was sorry to hear the sad news that Jim had left us. I hadn’t known he was unwell.
While we worked for the same employer unfortunately our paths hadn’t crossed over the years. I wasn’t able to make it to the funeral yesterday but extend sincere condolences to yourself, Dean and all the other family members. My regards and best wishes also to the other Stoney Road members of the family and I hope all are keeping well.

I have very fond memories of working with Jim in Dublin, and also of the kindness of the Markland family to me during my time in the Northern Bank in Oldcastle many years ago. I am so sorry to hear of Jim’s death, he was a very kind and sincere person, as was so eloquently captured during Jim’s Mass today.
