We were all so sad to hear of the passing of the lovely man that was Jim McCafferty. He was what you would say 'a dote'. A gentle, quiet spoken, modest, hard-working gentleman. He was also a kind neighbour on Maywood Grove. We have fond memories of his Sliderobes van parked in the driveway in earlier years and in latter years walking by the house to and from the Cedars and just out walking. Himself and our Dad, Danny, had a great rapport. And a lot of time for each other. Our deepest condolences to Mari, Pat and Ian and extended families at this difficult time. May his gentle kind soul rest in peace.

Dear Mari, Pat and Ian, sincere condolences on the death of your lovely dad Jim. He was such a good and kind man and warmth, good humour and serenity seemed to emanate from him. He was a great friend and neighbour to our dad Jerry, who enjoyed his company and kindness very much during life and especially during his own illness, which we will always remember and appreciate. May Jim rest in peace.
Sincere sympathies Joe Littleton and family and all the McCafferty family.
Dearest Ian, Pat, Mari & extended family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I have nothing but the fondest of memories of Jim & Margaret growing up in Bettyglen, such kind and gentle people. I always loved Jim's soft Scottish accent & I enjoyed many a chat with him on the road over the years. As a child it was such a thrill when he would take a gang of us to Dollymount beach to play football in his Sliderobes van, such lovely memories. God bless you Jim & may your gentle soul rest in peace.

I'm so sorry to hear about the death of Jim McCafferty, one of our lovely members of The Forget-Me-Nots Choir. Jim and his wife Margaret joined us many years ago and were a gentle presence as we rehearsed in Baldoyle Community Centre every Tuesday. I did some radio work for Christmas FM one year and asked our members for their favourite Christmas memories - Jim said in his gorgeous Scottish accent 'I remember getting a packet of orange flavoured Spangles, the best Christmas treat ever' - may he rest in peace - we will miss him.
We wish to express our sincere sympathy to Mari, Pat, Ian and their families, Fr Pat, extended Mc Cafferty and Littleton families on the death of your beloved Jim.

Ian, Pat, Mari, and extended family, so sorry for your loss. I'm reminded of better years, some decades ago mind you, when the houses in Maywood and Bettyglen were filled with younger versions of ourselves chatting away to friendly parents like Jim and Margaret (before many a night out)! Even more recently, there was always time for a quick chat and catch up with Jim when out walking. Kind welcoming hearts. Lots of love, Dónal, María, and Poppy the dog.

Very sorry to hear of Jim's passing and condolences to all his family. Jim introduced me to the Alzheimers Social Club on a Friday when I was caring for my late Mam who had dementia. We both loved it and I will always be grateful to Jim for it. He was a lovely kind and generous man. RIP Jim.

Jim always had time for a friendly chat if I met him on the road on the way to my mam’s.

It's with a heavy heart I have heard of my lovely neighbour Jim McCafferty's passing. A sweet man whose Scottish accent one Christmas finally confirmed for me that Father Christmas was a myth. I wasn't disappointed and if I think of Santa I always think of Jim. More recently my older son Patrick had multiple occasions to pop into Jim to get the ball back and despite Patrick putting the ball in 4 or five times into Jim's garden in the space of an hour or two..Jim never once grumbled, though he may have joked about Patricks ball skills. Jim was always pleasant to us as kids and it's sad to say farewell to such a great neighbour. Hugs to his children, our childhood friends, Mari, Pat & Ian. A-Team!
