Brian, Ross, so sorry to hear of the passing of you dad, my condolences to all the family on the passing of Jim.
Fond memories will forever remain of our time with Jim and Kay in Stradbally. Mum & I would regularly walk the lane to have a cuppa and natter with Kay, whilst your dad was out in his happy place, amongst the sheep and dogs! He passed on great knowledge and skill to so many, including my brother Paul - I remember well one day your dad was questioned by the owner of the estate at the time why two of the sheep had the initials 'PS' on their coats (these were to identify the 2 sheep he had given to my brother who was learning from him)...poor sight! he said in a confident voice, they have poor sight unfortunately, and nothing more was ever said.
May he rest in peace, reunited again alongside his beloved Kay
— Aisling Potter (nee Smith, Canterbury, Kent)

My condolences to Brian, Evelyn, Ross, Alison and Daniel and the extended McConnell family.
I have the fondest memories of my time with Jim, Kay and the boys in Stradbally- many evenings chatting by the fire, watching Jim train and work dogs and compete in trials, driving lessons in the fields in his Landrover, Sheep Breeders dinner dances and Jim and Kay surprising me by driving all the way to Mayo to see me compete in an event there.
Jim was one of the few true gentlemen I have had the privilege of knowing.
He was honest, respectful and kind with a quick wit and mischevious sense of humour.
Jim, I'm glad I made it back to Ireland in September to visit you before you left us. You will be sorely missed.
I am glad you left this world peacefully and are finally reunited with the love of your life. Thank you for the wonderful memories.
Until we meet again, Rest In Peace.
— Aithne Potts (Symes)
