So sad to hear of Jim’s passing and our sincere condolences to Seamus, Mary and the extended McDermott family. Jim was President of Castletroy GC in 2010 when I was Captain and what a great President, Clubman and gentleman he was. Always so kind and willing to give sound advice. We had great craic last September when Jim and Mary attended the Past Captains/Presidents Dinner at Castletroy with many great stories.

I got to know Jim because of his love of music and his sound system , we had great chats about his viisits to concert halls around the world and bad a store of knowledge and anecdotes he collected over the years he should written a book! Our sincere condolences to all the McDermott Family on the unexpected and very sudden passing of your wonderful Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad Jim. He was a thorough gentleman. It was always a pleasure to do business with him and what a pleasure it was to be in his company in the Golf Club. A very interesting man who had many a yarn to tell which included stories going back decades regarding the history of the golf club. A loyal comitted member, staunch supporter and friend to all in Castletroy. Whether you met him playing 45 on Tuesday or Thursday nights, having a coffee, or on the golf course, you always felt better for having met Jim, always up for a chat, always good humoured and with a smile on his face. He will be sorely missed by you all, his extended family and by his many friends in Castletroy and throughout business circles in Limerick. A true Limerick Gentleman who loved his golf as well as his hurling. Reunited again with his beloved Rita, may Jim Rest in Peace.
