My deepest condolences to you all.

Despite not having seen Jimmy in many years, he (as do you all) hold a special place in my heart. Just about every fond memory I have growing up involves the Acres family in some way.

Jimmy gave me my first job working in his shop which I loved and continued to do for many years on Saturdays and the runs up to Christmas. For me it was not about the money, it was the laugh and craic we all had working together and the characters I got to meet while there. He told me many times to be careful with the sharp knives and did I listen - NO. He told me that he thought I had cut my finger off as I ran past him one early morning with blood all over the floor and my face white as a ghost. I locked myself in the toilet running my finger under cold water not worried about that but being more worried that I let him down by not listening.

He gave me my first weeks wages and showed me the benefits of a hard weeks work.

One of my fondest memories was getting a call to come around to the house quickly one night - thinking something was wrong I ran around the corner. Turns out Jimmy had a tape of Kevin Bloody Wilsons and we sat there in the kitchen laughing for ages. He had an infectious laugh and a great sense of humour.

He was a true gentleman and he made a strong and lasting impression on me during his time in Ballyfermot as I am sure he did on many others over the years.

Thanks Jimmy - both you and your loved ones are in my thoughts
