Condolences to the family and extended family on the passing of Jimmy. Jimmy and a number of ex Blackrock hurlers used to visit my late Uncle Noel O'Connell (ex Blackrock) at the Railway, Coachford every Christmas and it was very much appreciated. May Jimmy Rest in Peace.

And then later on hearing him sing about Lough Sheelin Side in the Old Clubhouse on weekends_great memories.Jimmy and my late Brother Tommy both worked in Dunlops and knew each other so well.
Unfortunatlely Kellie and Family are on Holidays abroad and unable to attend any of the funeral Arrangements.

I remember cheering Jimmy on when he played for Sullivan's Quay CBS in the Harty Cup final against Thurles CBS in the 1950s and I remained a fan since then. Jimmy, like his brothers Bobby and John, was always the perfect gentleman and it is sad to hear of his passing. From our first meeting when my father and himself were both Cork selectors to our last meeting at Teddy Mac’s funeral he always had a smile and the time for a discussion on the latest GAA happenings, be they good or bad! Jimmy was a total ‘Legend’.


Growing up in Blackrock he always had time for everyone and was always very genuine. He stood for everything that was great about Blackrock.

Jimmy was a great hurler & coach and helped so many teams and players over the years. I still remember him showing us how to hurl, and over the years he would always have a good word whenever you met him. He was a true gentleman and was always good to me. I was sad to hear the news - Blackrock has lost a star .
