So sad to hear of Jimmy's passing, I had the pleasure to know Jimmy for a number of years as he came to attend the Orthopaedic Hospital in Cork. He was an absolute gentleman from start to finish and a loveable character, all those who have ever met him never forgot him as his smile and humour was infectious and was far bigger than his frame.
I will miss him dearly.

The older generation have left the street unfortunitly we are the next May he rest in peace.

I'd say I was barely in Dungarvan a month when I found myself driving to Kildare to drop a horse and collect another in Wicklow with Jimmy (Shaft) in the passenger seat. He was great company. An excellent man on 'the book' out testing- there would rarely be a mistake. And a great man for the ponies. He was great craic and always had a word for any child he met, especially in the pony world.
He will be sorely missed.
RIP Jimmy, and massive condolences to Josie, Michael, and the whole family.

We will always remember his kindness and encouragement to the children during their showjumping days. Our friendship continued in later years when Jimmy cared for his beloved ponies and horses in Ballyguiry on Strikes Hill with Barry.
Everyone on the Hill knew Jimmy and enjoyed his stories and company.
And once again his kindness was evident to all …… Josie and himself treating the children
……and also the adults with his his specialised glazed ham!
He was a real legend.

We were so saddened to hear of the passing of Jimmy he was out on his own when it came to running an arena and made every child feel special and it was testament to the high regard he was held when as adults they would always make time to say hello when they heard his voice. Jimmy you were always on the move so I would say you will run your new arena with the same kindness thanks for the great memories
