Lovely Jo. I was so saddened to hear of Jo’s passing. Such a kind, talented and fun friend. I had the pleasure of knowing Jo from early days in Matrix. And Jo shared in our yearly Navan workshop for over twenty years. So missed. Condolences and love to all her family.
— Valerie Greene
To Jo's daughters and extended family. This is such sad news. I met Jo in early 1978. Jo had a gift for friendship. She brightened up so many lives with her friendship and positive outlook. She was a wonderful host and cook when I visited later in Castleknock and Baldoyle. Jo was a great letter writer and I am so glad at her successes. Her death is such a shock to me. Jo lived her life to the full and that is a comfort to her family whom she loved. Jo will be remembered fondly for her ability to include so many people in her life as friends. When I was with her it was as if she knew me all her life. Jo will live on in the memory of us all. With Profound Sympathy from Teresa [Terry].
— Teresa and Eddie
My sincere condolences to Jo's family. I have just heard about this tragic loss. Jo was a talented and generous artist who I had the pleasure of getting to know through Irish Theatre Institute. She is a great loss to the theatre community and will be remembered fondly and frequently through the work she made and the artists she supported. RIP

We couldn't believe our luck in meeting and becoming friends with Jo in Clonbur. What a truly generous, creative, bright and beautiful person she was. She was radiant and such a good laugh.

Sinéad, Rachel, Kitty, Antonia and Jo’s extended family - I am so desperately sorry for your loss.

I have been staggered by the news since I heard. Jo was a teacher, friend, mentor and colleague to me over many years. Courageous, generous, passionate and kind, she was gentle but tough when she needed to be. It was always simply about doing work that mattered. She will forever be an inspiration and will occupy a particular place in my heart. I would be a lesser person without her and I am very grateful to have known her. She will be sorely missed by many.

My love and deepest sympathies to all the family.
— Damien Hasson

To Jo’s daughters, what a beautiful farewell you gave your Mam yesterday, befitting for the free spirit she was. I knew your Mam from CAF days in Belfast. She had a rare gift of making everyone feel valued and worthy and I have cherished memories of my many conversations with her, always open, honest, kind and gentle and with a radiant smile and ready wit. The loss of such a rare soul to this world is immeasurable, above all for you, her greatest loves. I hope you will always feel her strength to bear it.

To beautiful, luminous Jo, thank you for the gift of yourself and for the precious memories you have left behind. Your light could never be extinguished. It will shine on here and wherever your spirit has flown and I hope we’ll meet again some sunny day. Love, Joan XO.

Dear Sinead, Rachel, Kitty, Antonia and all,
I was deeply shocked to hear the tragic news on Stephen's day. I met Jo 'back in the day' when we both worked with the Howth Theatre group. When I first met her, I was more than amazed by this brilliant woman who instantly inspired and challenged me. I had never met anyone like her before that, she lit up our lives. It was always joyous and stimulating whenever we met. Although we lost touch in recent years Jo always had a big place in my heart. My heart goes out to you, her lovely girls, what a great loss to you and yours. I couldn't make the service but watched the live stream, a beautiful tribute to Jo, Take good care of yourselves, love Antoinette.
