So sad this evening to hear of the passing of Granny Jo. Jo was a wonderful grandmother to my Meadhbh and Katie and indeed, to all of her grandchildren. She taught them both many things and the girls lives have certainly blossomed immeasurably, because of her great positive influence on both of them.

Granny Jo and Granddad Liam always welcomed them to Mallow, whether a day drip, when off school, or for a few days of hols at Mid-Term breaks, etc. The girls always came home with great tales to tell, whether quilters’ comments and support over a new quilt, pieced together and prep.’d to go into the quilting hoop, for the hand-quilting, with waxed reels of thread at the ready.
Re. Granddad Liam, they would recount stories of customers cars and the repairs to be done, at the garage downtown.

Meadhbh and Katie were very fortunate to have 4 grandparents in their lives for nearly 3 decades. It is very unusual for this to occur. Oh that they may remember all they have been taught and practice such skills in their own lives.

A week in, it’s been beautiful reading all the condolences, a great comfort and a great kick to see the geography - Walsh/Bridge st/cork road/isle of wight - mum would have been quietly tickled pink! She is loving reading them and waving to you all from up there. I would have moved every boulder in the world to been there to hold your hand, have the fun and see you out. You know that, your daughters salut you. Mum was a level eddie, a bright spark, she loved, lived and rolled with life and loved and knew us all. Thank you. Orla.

Heard late. It’s lovely to read all the condolences, mum had a lucky life, rose over the diabetes and left this world with the eyesight intact, the patchwork on the go, quilter friends, the best of home help, taxis and delivery supports and living to the end in her own jalna - which she got all fixed up. The lovely pic of mum was of her freshly painted garden wall, flowers n shelves from this year. She’s off to Dad, RIP.

Sadly we lost our lovely Mam, Helen, March '24🙏Mammy and Jo R.I.P. were friends for many years through their shared love for needlework. Along with the lovely "Patchwork Ladies" they enjoyed weekly sewing/quilting sessions with tea and cake as their reward. They proudly displayed their beautifully quilted " works of art" annually in Mallow Library hoping to attract newcomers to their "club" to enable them to share their craft and their love of needlework. May Jo's gentle soul rest in peace, Amen.
