Dear Cyril, we send our deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to you on the passing of your dear wife Joan and to your four lovely daughters and extended family. I came to know Joan quite well over the many years we've lived in Balally. She was a lovely person and was such a funny lady with her incredible Dublin wit which I enjoyed on many occasions as we chatted over your garden wall. One very special memory I have of Joan is when she obliged me with a small sewing alteration, she wouldn't take any money, so I racked my brains wondering how I could show my appreciation, so being a keen photographer one day I took some pictures from our bedroom window on a very cold winters day when the gardens were covered in a blanket of snow and all our shed rooftops were snow clad also,, it was so picturesque it reminded me of a small village in Austria. I enlarged one of the photos framed it and gave it to Joan, her
eyes lit up and she was so thrilled to get this photo and said it meant more to her than any money! I will always remember that day and I will never forget her. Balally will also miss this
lovely lady. Rest in Peace Joan.

I'm so sorry to here of your Mums passing. I know she will be hugely missed by all the family. Mum was also very sad to hear your news. Joan was a huge part of my childhood... my 3rd Mammy, after Mum and Maureen. Between the 3 of them we couldn't get away with anything! I have very fond memories of sitting in your kitchen drinking tea and talking for hours. And seeing your Mum cycling up and down the road to the shops.
