What a wonderful, genial, engaged, kind and beautiful person Joan was. All my interactions with Joan (and Jim too - what a match they were) were always so fun and uplifting. I hope they are together again. My deepest condolences to all the Hearnes.

What a beautiful human being Joan was. She brought joy wherever she went and we were lucky God allowed so many years amongst us, but, of course it could never be long enough and we are all heartbroken at her demise but she has left her goodness and understanding in everyone she touched and particularly her children! Annmarie, John, Margaret, Trisha, Paul and Jean and their families. May God Bless you all in this time of great sorrow.

Mo chomhbhrón libh ar bháis bhur máthair díl, Joan. Please accept my condolences on the passing of your lovely mother. She always had a smile for us as children from around the corner, as she did for us as teenagers and then as adults. It was a sure sign of being “home” again encountering your mother and being on the receiving end of her wide, beaming smile. Despite intermittent visits dictated by living abroad, she never forgot who I was and it was a comfort from afar to know my mother had still the familiarity of her such friendly, open, kind and close neighbour. Our mother and yours shared the lilt of the Kerry brogue, as well as being deeply embedded in the Raheny community, and so they never just passed each other by without the extra few (or many!) words. It still rings vividly in my memories, though it was some years back when I last heard “I ran into Joan Hearne today and we had a chat!”. She will be missed. Your mother came to my mother’s 80th, 85th and 90th celebrations and she was there too to bid “slán agat” to her and offer me much valued comfort at her Repose of Soul and on the occasions of other such life's milestones.
