Sincere condolences to Declan, and all of the Hickey family. Joan was my favourite teacher at St. Paul's, and I will always remember her kindness and patience when teaching my classmates and I how to knit. She will be greatly missed by my Mam (her long-standing bridge partner) and everyone who knew her. Thinking of you all lots. From Karen and all of the Dore family.

I’m so very sorry Declan for your great loss. Joan was a lovely neighbour who was very good and kind to my Dad. Thanks to Joan he was able to keep going to bridge when he could no longer manage to drive himself. He was very fond of her. Joan’s gentle, girlish presence and sparkling smile will be sorely missed in Boreen an Tobair.

I am so sorry about Joan and have been thinking of you since I heard the news. I am sorry I couldn't make it to the funeral but heard it was a beautiful send off. She was a wonderful, kind, generous person (she bought me my first Barbie when I was 7!) and I'll always remember her laugh. R.I.P. Joan.
