Our deepest condolences to Pat and the extended Holloway family on the passing of a great soul in dear Joan. She had a heart of gold and an irrepressible joyful spirit always.
Joan and her mother were close friends with our parents and they spent much time calling and visiting each other and holidaying together in the late 50s and the 60s We have many happy memories and photos of those days together at the beach in Salthill , on Sunday drives and boating picnics on the Suck. When I last visited Joan over a year ago, she asked me for a photo taken in Killarney in 1966 with herself, her mother, her sister Margie and my own mother Maureen. All four ladies were full of joyful smiles as they were being driven around on a jarveys trap. It was such a poignant memory for us to cherish as it was the last time they were all together. Maureen passed away the next year on August 1st and now Joan has gone too on August 1st. 58 years later. The end of an era.
We shall miss that dear lady to whom we were related through her aunt Kate Holloway Ward who was our grandmother.
Thank you Joan for your friendship and kindness and for a life well lived

and remain with us in our memories and prayers.

To Joan's family and dear friends: you are in my thoughts & prayers as you grieve for Joan. It was lovely getting to know her while I lived in Garbally Drive. We met her so often at Mass at the Franciscan Convent and she never missed our Coffee Morning/Afternoon for Galway Hospice. If for any reason she couldn't attend her donation always arrived. She was very kind to Sr. Finbar (Margaret) which meant a lot . So Joan has left lovely memories and I hope that she will be very happy in God's kingdom of light, love, peace and joy as she reunites with the loved ones who have gone before. Thanks Joan for your friendship to us Mercy Sisters while I lived in Garbally Drive.

I was sorry to hear of Joans death and memories of her time in both Society Street and Ard Mhuire came flooding back when I did.
Joan was a lovely person, sincere and kind.She loved her extended family dearly and spoke about them regularly....they were lucky to have her as an aunt.
Her talent as an artist is well known....and she was a great reader......we had many lengthy discussions on true crime books when she visited the library.....and many laughs also..
Joan was an integral part of the fabric of Ballinasloe and now, as she is reunited with her mother and other family members gone before her, may she rest in perfect peace.R.I.P
