I only recently learned of the passing of Joan. I met her in person only once, in early 1997, shortly after her son, and my friend, Brendan, died aged 26 years. We corresponded briefly over the years which followed. I will always remember Joan as a dignified and courageous woman in those very difficult circumstances. I hope that she and Brendan, and Brendan's dad Jerome, are all reunited now in eternal peace and happiness. The thoughts of all of Brendan's friends in UCC are with you and your family, Joan.
