Unfortunately, I was never able to meet Joan. I was looking forward to meeting her for the first time on her visit to Cayman. While I never had the pleasure of meeting her, I have worked with her son Paul for the last five years or so, and through his stories of her in both his childhood and adult life I feel like I got a little glimpse into who she was. From my experience with her son, and having met some of her grandchildren, it’s very easy to see that she was a great mom and grandmother. It’s hard to put in words the surreal feeling of loss for someone I didn’t know, but still felt like I knew. I hope that all of her family finds solace and comfort in celebrating her life, and sending thoughts and prayers for everyone.

Joan was a beautiful lady, always so elegant, always so kind and always had a story to tell. Her biggest joy was her family.
