Our deepest condolences on the sad passing of Joan , may she rest in Peace 🙏
My deepest sympathy to all Joan's family on the loss of a lovely lady. I studied Childcare with Joan some years ago and we had a great two years with a lot of fun and we always helped and supported each other as a group.
I loved to see photos on Facebook of all your family and I know Joan was so proud of you all.
May Joan's gentle soul rest in peace.
The first time I met Joan was picking her up to go to the labour ward in Holles St when Dan was born.
I was so anxious & worried
she would tear Into this gobshite who got her teenage daughter pregnant…
But when we met she just smiled & couldn’t have been nicer to me.

After Dan was born I gave her a lift home in the wee hrs of the morning thinking,
Now, that is all out of the way I’m gonna get the cold shoulder,
But we actually had a great chat and again she couldn’t have been nicer to me.

After myself and Jennifer went our separate ways & I hadn’t seen Joan in a while,
I collected Dan from her house one day.
she was in the front garden & came walking out towards the car ,
I rolled down the window tentatively thinking she must have some fingers to point or comments to make
But she just hit me with a big smile a friendly chat & couldn’t have been nicer to me

Even after she was diagnosed & given seemingly nothing but bad news over and over she still would text to tell me how adorable Jonah looked in a picture or to wish my mam happy birthday.
Even through her own struggles she couldn’t have been nicer to me.

We don’t always know when we are adding a little light to somebodies journey.
Whether that light be as obvious as a hug from close friends or family.
As well timed as nice message at just the right time
or as random as just a smile and nod to a stranger walking past.

We don’t see how our own light multiplies & spreads
but to the person receiving it,
it makes a lasting impression.

For me every time I bumped into Joan or got a text on Facebook I was left lighter for it.
After every interaction i felt grateful for for her kindness & warmth.

Her physical work here may be done,
But that light shines on for and thru her kids and grandkids
To her wider family and all the people whom that light touched during her time here.

You were kind to me when u didn’t have to be and I’ll remember that.
Thanks Joan
Safe travels 💚
My heart goes out to you all on your great loss. Be assured we will give Joan a most beautiful send off.
