Joe Foley

On the passing of Joe, my sincere condolences to his sons Ken and Frank and to his relatives.

I came to know Joe when I was working at Crawford Municipal Technical Institute, and later at Cork RTC and at CIT.

As an Electrician he was always concerned about the well-being of the apprentices under his wing.

Joe could be termed a consummate and wise craftsman.

In later years Joe deservedly secured the electrical contract at CIT.

Joe and I frequently met on Saturday mornings for a chat and coffee which continued through our retirements.

He was a thorough gentleman, a great conversationalist and a good friend.

I will miss Joe, as will many others who knew him.

Ken sincere sympathy to you, Frank, your partners and the extended Foley Family on the loss of your much loved father Joe. I had the privilege of knowing him for the many years I worked for you in TVAE. He was a wonderful man and it was always a pleasure to see him coming in the door with the scones!! He brightened up many a day for us with his jokes and funny stories. One of lifes true gentlemen and an absolutely lovable character. May Joe's gentle soul rest in eternal peace. Thoughts are with you all at this very sad time.

Ken, I was very sorry to hear about Joe. I have many fond memories of him, he always brightened up a day with his telling of jokes and ready laughter. One of life's all round good guys, he will be missed.

Ken, my sincere condolences to you, Frank and your wider family. I have only heard in recent days with sadness of your Dads passing. I know its a tough time for any family. As Joe and my Dad were great friends in the RTC, I have many happy, and fun, memories of him as part of our lives for many years. He gave me one of my first jobs many years ago in his office in Oliver Plunkett Street and was so patient with me as I really had so much to learn. An utter gentleman, highly regarded in his profession and always had a laugh and joke for everyone. Take care of each other.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Joe to his eternal home in heaven. Rest in peace Joe where you will be reunited with your beloved Rita . May God give you strength at this difficult time for you all.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Joe. The late Rita and Joe had a long connection with the Murphy family starting with our childhood days in Cleve Hill Blackrock. I can remember staying at the Sweeney family home in Ballylinch Baltimore and playing on the farm as a child. Joe and Rita remained lifelong friends of our parents. Later we did we did a lot of work with Joe as an electrical contractor, I have vivid memories of Joe's humour and particularly how he brightened up our lives at meetings with a funny storey.

Great sense of Humour and a gentleman and I always enjoyed his company. His story’s, his laughter, always in great form and when leaving you always had a smile on your face. He will be sorely missed.
