Ciara ,very sad to hear of your Dad's passing. Have many happy memories of him while on sleep overs at your house.May he rest in peace.
For over thirty-five years it was my privilege to be a colleague and friend of this kind and generous man, Joe Boylan. His heart was the biggest part of this giant among men; nothing was too much trouble for him as he cheerfully gave of his time and talent to one and all.
His exotic mode of transport, a Jowett Javelin, was a regular source of fascination and instruction to the motorcar engineering class - not to mention to their teacher!
Now reunited with his beloved Carmel, our sincere sympathy goes to his adored and loving children, Jim, Aidan, Ciara and Orla, and to his extended family.
May he rest in peace.

Deepest condolences to the family and friends of Joe.
(Mr. Boylan to me as a young Apprentice Carpenter in the Army Apprentice School way back in 1968).
His influence on me was such that I too went on to became an educator as a Woodwork Teacher.
I have happy memories of Joe arriving in with little tasks for us to do such as; carving oars, tillers and masts for his current boat building project.
If memory serves I believe it was a Mermaid class boat at the time.
His choice of car for his daily commute from Skerries to Naas was also of note
especially his 'Jowett Javelin' which the marketing slogan described as "an elegant classic that stands out from the crowd".
A slogan that could aptly describe the man himself. Thanks Joe for the memories and may the mermaids guide you on your way.
