Sincere sympathies to Joes family and friends on his sad passing, I went to school with Joe in St Jarlaths Tuam, he was a hurling man like myself which meant we were not on the "A" football teams!!, we had such fun with Joe and I have fond memories of his support and empathy on the hurling field, we lined out on one occasion against Athenry a dynasty of hurling, Fr Der Moloney was our trainer, last thing he said to us going out of the dressing room was "Lads yiz have no hope and thats the only hope yiz have", Joe our captain led us out and we trounced Athenry which caused a major upset and was a mammoth achievement for Joe and our fledgling hurling team, back in those distant days, ....wonderful memories indeed!

Sadly I hadnt realized Joe has been living in Castlerea beside us here, I would have loved to have met up with and enjoyed more of his efforbessent company, I hope Joe finds well deserved eternal peace!
Sincere condolences to Sarah-Jane, Eoin, Anne & Loretto on the passing of their beloved Joe. May he RIP. Met Joe early in my career with UB while working on relief in Drogheda early 75, he made me so welcome, introducing me to the cash etc. Oh happy days.

Sincere condolences to Sarah-Jane, Eoin, Ann & Loretta on the sad passing of your dad and brother, Joe. I have fond memories of social events with Joe while working in Ulster Bank. I too played hurling with Joe on the bank team - Joe could be regarded as a “sweeper” back then as he swept out all before and beside him and occasionally that included the sliotar. Good memories of a great character. May Joe rest in peace.
Eavan and I were deeply saddened to learn of Joe’s passing. We have known Joe since we all worked together in Ferbane in the early seventies. We had some great times and laughs. Many years later in 1991 Joe and I worked together again, this time in Ballina. The best compliment I can pay Joe is to say that Joe was one of those guys where what you saw, was what you got. Joe was a straight up guy, a thoroughly decent man, very bright and always good for a laugh. He will be missed. Joe’s family are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
Sincere condolences on the sad passing of Joe. May he Rest in Peace.

Sarah Jane and Eoin and extended McHugh family. Our sincere sympathies to you all on your very sad loss. Dad was a great character. He was a brilliant Bank Manager and a great member of Glenamaddy Players. We had many years together on the drama circuit. Great memories of the 1996 circuit with The Playboy of the Western World. Our two bank managers playing Jimmy and Philly, hopefully they both now reunited in God's heavenly home.

I am so sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. While I never worked with Joe I had the honour of lining out with Joe on The Ulster Bank hurling team. Joe always prepared thoroughly and had his pre match appetiser before the game. He usually played at Fullback but in fairness nowhere around him guaranteed a person safety. He cleaned out anything that came at him and a bit more. Joe was a gentleman and I have those great memories of playing on the team with him. May you rest in peace Joe it was a pleasure knowing you.
