Joe O'Mahony

I count myself so blessed to have had Joe in my life. Someone who had experienced so much hardship, and yet, through it all was able to show kindness and love. Joe taught me what true faith means, he taught me the art of contentment and finding value in the little things. He was so appreciative of everything and so sentimental, even the smallest act of kindness would never be forgotten by him. From a young age we enjoyed his stories and caught glimpses of his rich and thoughtful view of the world. He had a way to make even a child feel seen and heard. Because he had a sympathy like none other, one could truly speak freely and openly with him. I’m never going to forget the lessons he taught me, lessons about life, hope and building strong faith. So many sincere moments were shared with dear Joe, moments I will continue to treasure until we meet him again.

Coming to the conclusion that you are actually gone is more painful to deal with than I could ever imagine. Not sure how to deal with the fact that I won’t be able to hear your corny jokes and the light in your eyes when you are telling a story just to bring joy to everyone around you. Joe was a second father to me and my sisters. He was family and I loved him so much. I will forever miss you Joe. Rest In Peace

Joe was like my second father. He and Shelly raised us as well and honestly was one of the people that made me the person I am today. He was so empathetic and loving. He cared so deeply and passionately. Cork won't be the same without him. I remember his silly laughs when he makes his kringey jokes like he really got a good one. But he really did make us laugh. You could really get lost in a good conversation with him. He had great perspective on things that I didn't due to my limited experience. I can't wait to meet you again soon Joe. Love you loads

Such sad news. Joe, such a wonderful ,brilliant, funny man. We had such craic on the ministry together, i loved going on the back of his bike, and will never forget his silly hats! The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life.

I have never met anyone like Joe Mahony and I never will again . Joe and I worked together for over 10 years , I loved his company , his wit , his storytelling , his knowledge of sport and his incredible talent as a stonemason . I am truly grateful to him for the building of my home and for all of his work to my nursery and on all the jobs we worked on all over Munster . All of my clients who met him fell in love with his sense of humour and loved the talent and skill he brought to their projects . All are shocked and saddened by his passing . Joe left an indelible impression on everyone he met. I am grateful to have known him. He taught me how to make a good strong cup of tea and to appreciate Somerset Maugham. He made me think deeper and laugh a lot. The world is less bright without him.
