Joe (Patrick Joseph) Mannion

As a member of the Kruger family, I met Joe on a few occasions and always found him a pleasure to speak with. Good humoured and kind, he was always the perfect gentleman. So sorry to hear of his passing. Condolences to Phyllis and Joe's extended family and friends 🙏🏼 R.I.P

My grandad Joe showed me from a young age what can be accomplished through determination and the pursuit of knowledge. He was a truly remarkable man, someone that worked day by day to give a fruitful future to all children and grand children. When hearing stories of the farm, raising my mother Nora and the rest of the lot, I was captivated. The close knit, gritty, hard-working bunch Grandad raised set a precedent for following generations. During the quiet mornings and evenings at the same home he raised my mother, I shared conversations I’ll hold in my heart forever. He had a way of presenting advice and experiences that simply inspired me, made me invigorated to accomplish just some of what he was able to in his busy years.

It was so hard to leave after visiting Dublin and sharing the slower moments with Grandad. Once when I was young I was very excited to go play golf with him, and Dublin being Dublin it had been raining. We stayed in and Grandad grabbed his practice putting cups. We tried shots from the kitchen to the living room, putting the ball down the stair set and I loved every moment.

He was a serious man, that could direct attention from an entire room just to crack on and make us smile.

Dear Edel, Nora, Joe, Enda, Martin and the extended Mannion family.

I was so very sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. He was a quiet, intelligent, kind and thoughtful man, and a true constant in our lives. Joe was a great friend to my parents for nearly 50 years, and his presence was part of the fabric of our family home.

Every time I saw him, usually cutting the hedge or grass in his tan hat, or loading his golf clubs into the car, we would always stop for a bit of a natter. Those simple moments are ones I will always remember fondly. Joe had a gentle way about him that made people feel at ease, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He will be very much missed in Stillorgan Wood. Please accept my heartfelt condolences and know that you are in my thoughts at this difficult time.
