I will never forget Joe’s kindness to me in 1982. I was in Cork Regional Hospital. He visited me many times during my hospital stay.

We shared the same 'digs' and flats for a few years. We went different routes then but again spent the final years of our service together in McCurtain St. A man of integrity and a loyal friend. We were shocked and saddened to learn that Joe had died suddenly.

He was a lovely neighbor and a complete gentleman.

He lived directly across from us and he had the same new car as we had and he was very pleased with it - he called it “ king of the road”
