Deepest sympathies and sincere condolences to Anne, Darragh, Liz and David on Joes passing. His geniality and warmth was shared with everyone. I had the pleasure and honour to serve on Joe's committee during his captaincy in 2015. What a wonderful and encouraging leader, and while Joe understood the traditional framework of golf and golf clubs, he was always keen to introduce modernity and innovation in every facet of the game. How happy we all were with his magnificent runaway victory for the Captains prize, after trying for fifty years, and his acceptance speech must go down as the most illuminating and inciteful one ever. We will miss him very much.

I have known Joe since the sixties, he always had a friendly manner and a very warm welcome for everyone he met.
In Howth Golf Club Joe's contribution was immense; Club Captain 2015, Team Manager and player for many years. Joe continued to play a very active role until recently, even winning the Captain's Prize this year. We will miss him very much.
