Déanaim comhbhrón le céile, le clann agus le gaolta John anois ó tá sé imithe uainn ar shlí na fírinne agus guím suaimhneas síoraí dá anam uasal. Le linn m'óige ar an gCeathrú Rua, Co na Gaillimhe, ba mhinic John ag eagrú ócáidí súgartha is spóirt do bhuíon againn a bhí i bhfad níos óige ná é -- tréithe an mhúinteora á léiriú cheana féin aige! D'fhág sé cuimhní geanúla chomh maith le oidhreacht luachmhar ceoil againn, go háirithe leabhair Walton's.

I have such fond memories of him as the headmaster, he was an inspiring and kind man who left a lasting impression on me. In later years, in the Ballyboughal sessions I loved listening to him play the guitar— he was a truly talented singer and musician. May John rest in peace.

For me - a lifetime of memories - playing cards in Tuismeán, fishing in Loch an Mhuileann in Carraroe, swimming in Dóilín beach, playing football in Colaiste Éinde. We shared digs in Mrs Archer’s house in Oldtown and enjoyed playing handball, table tennis and golf. We had great craic playing music and singing in concerts & talent contests in Ardcath, Oldtown & Rolestown. We shared ‘car runs’ when the girls were in Loreto Balbriggan.
