It was with sadness i learned of the passing of Tony, i had the pleasure of working with him for 7/8 years in the old Garda Station on Farnham Street, if ever i met a total gentleman in a Garda uniform it was Tony Mclaughlin, to the extended family i wish to offer my sincere condolences. My sincere condolences to the McLaughlin on the death of Tony. Over 30 years ago Tony interviewed me at the old station on Farnham Street to become a member of An Garda Siochana. I still remember how nice he was and his wonderful laugh when he realised that I had been a barmaid in a pub he had visited on the way back from the bog with some of his colleagues. I was afraid this worked against me but he assured me otherwise and on his recommendation I went on to ‘sign up’. May he rest in peace.
