He was a lovely man and i have great memories of him when we regularly visited Barrett's Shop when we lived in Redgate and then Caherdavin. He always had great time for my late mam Bernie Fitzgerald and they loved the chats. I still remember the sign over the door 'God helps those that help themselves but god help those i catch at it'. In my youth i along with my friends would cycle from Cratloe in the old Cratloe road to Rugby games in Thomond Park and Barretts shop was always a stop on way home for treat. May John Rest in Peace.
